Say hello to Bella, a Class of 2024 senior from Mount Rainer High School in Des Moines, Washington. When Bella reached out to me to book her senior session, she asked for a location that was near a lighthouse. Since, I'm a senior photographer based in the Federal Way area, my first thought was Browns Point Lighthouse Park located in Browns Point, Washington (near Tacoma). This location has everything that you need for a perfect senior photoshoot in the Pacific Northwest. From gorgeous views of the Puget Sound, a picket white fence, and flowers everywhere!
I enjoyed every single minute that I got to spend with Bella. Throughout her senior session I got to learn more about her story and personality. She is beyond sweet, kind, caring, and goes with the flow. After graduating from high school, she plans to finish her AA at Highline Community College and transfer to Washington State University to pursue a degree in nursing to specialize in labor and delivery. Isn't that AMAZING?! Her heart is filled with so much love!
As a senior photographer, it is my top priority to take pictures of my seniors that show their true selves. This is why I create a senior photoshoot experience for my seniors to have a safe space for them to feel loved, celebrated, and beautiful. I always value spending extra time with my seniors so they can feel comfortable to be the most authentic version of themselves, which allows me to build a real relationship with them and capture their personality in their senior pictures. Bella's energy radiated throughout the whole session and you can see it in her senior pictures! It was truly so much fun to edit her high school graduation pictures and I was extremely excited to them to her.
After receiving her senior pictures, Bella sent me the most thoughtful message and shared her deep appreciation. She even wrote a lovely review on my Google page that said, "Mikayla is a remarkable woman, her presence is nothing short of inspiring in every conceivable way. The opportunity to acquaint myself with her, both as an individual and as a photographer was an experience that I will treasure forever. She excels in her craft, capturing images with flair, but it's her unique ability to make you feel genuinely beautiful, both within and externally, that truly sets her apart. What really resonated with me was her approach; she doesn't just photograph you, she connects with you on a personal level, as though you've been friends for ages. Engaging in conversation, delving into her life's narrative thus far, was the highlight of our session. A heartfelt thank you to Mikayla for providing such a delightful and enjoyable experience." Reading her review made me so emotional because this is WHY I am a senior photographer. It's more than just taking senior pictures, it's truly about building authentic relationships with young women, empowering them to feel their most beautiful, and celebrating their major accomplishments. It is always my hope that I can remain in contact with my seniors to celebrate and uplift them throughout their journey of life.
