Now that it is officially Spring in the Pacific Northwest, it's time to start planning what you're wearing to your senior session! We are beyond fortunate to live in such a luscious and colorful environment in Washington State. There are so many glorious photoshoot locations within the Seattle-Tacoma area that provides endless options of gardens, beaches, lakes, and mountains that will make the backdrop of your senior photos so beautiful. BUT - before we can choose your locations, we must plan your outfits first!

When you book a senior session with Mikayla Arsenian Photography, you will receive FREE styling assistance from me! We will meet over zoom for your complimentary fashion consultation to review all of your outfit ideas and pair them with the right accessories. I absolutely love helping my seniors plan their outfits for their senior pictures, so this one of my favorite parts of the preparation work leading up to your senior photoshoot!

Here are my fav tips to share with my seniors to help them create the most perfect Spring wardrobe for a senior session:

Tip #1 - Embrace Seattle's Spring Palette:
Spring in the Seattle-Tacoma area is marked by lush greens, blooming flowers, and overcast skies. Opt for a wardrobe that complements these natural hues. Pastels, earthy tones, and soft blues can beautifully merge with the city's surroundings, creating a harmonious and visually pleasing ensemble.

Tip #2 - Layers for the Win:
Given the Seattle-Tacoma area unpredictable Spring weather, it's wise to incorporate layers into your outfits. Consider lightweight jackets, cardigans, or stylish scarves that can be easily added or removed to adapt to changing temperatures. This not only adds dimension to your senior photos, but also ensures you stay comfortable and warm throughout the photoshoot.

Tip #3 - Mix Textures and Patterns:
Create visually interesting senior photos by incorporating a variety of textures and patterns into your outfits. Flowy fabrics, denim, lace, or subtle prints can add depth to your photos, making them visually engaging. However, be mindful not to overdo it – a balance of textures and patterns is key.

Tip #4 - Showcase Your Personality:
Your senior session is a reflection of you, so don't be afraid to infuse your personality into your outfits. Whether you have a love for vintage fashion, a passion for sports, a flair for modern style, or want to wear cultural apparel, let your clothes tell a story about who you are and where you come from. This personal touch will make your senior photos even more memorable.

Tip #5 - Consider the Photoshoot Location:
The greater Seattle-Tacoma area boasts a diverse array of backdrops, from urban cityscapes to lush parks and waterfronts. Arrange your outfits to the locations you've chosen for your senior session. Urban settings might call for more modern, sophisticated, or edgy styles, while natural environments may lend themselves to softer, more bohemian looks.

Tip #6 - Comfort:
I cannot stress enough how important it is to pick outfits that you feel the most comfortable to wear. Wearing outfits that make you feel comfortable will help radiate your confidence and allow so many poses for your senior session. Make sure to try on each outfit to ensure you can sit, squat, lay down, and walk around comfortably.

Tip #7 - Accessorize Thoughtfully:
Accessorizing can elevate your outfits and add that extra touch of style. Consider hats, statement jewelry, or a pair of stylish sunglasses to enhance your overall look. Just remember to keep it balanced – too many accessories can be distracting.

Tip #8 - Plan Ahead and Coordinate with Your Photographer:
Most importantly, communicate with your photographer about the vision you have for your senior session ahead of time. Share your outfit ideas and ask for their input on colors and styles that will complement the chosen locations and the overall aesthetic you're aiming for. Planning ahead ensures a cohesive and well-planned senior photoshoot.
With thoughtful planning, your Spring senior session in the Seattle-Tacoma area can be a memorable and visually stunning experience. Embrace the season's colors, layer up for the weather, and let your personality shine through your carefully curated outfits. The result will be a collection of senior photos that capture the essence of this exciting chapter in your life!
